COUNTY RATES.
OVER 2000 NOTICES B&NT OUT. general Rates total £34,898. Some 2500 rate notices were issued hy the office of the Ashburton County Council last Friday. Already some ratepayers have discharged their obligations, the County Clerk (Mr G. Keliy) reporting this morning that £179 14s 9d was on hand, having been received almost ,by return mail. The general rate struck, including the contribution for hospital levies, amounts to £c14,,898. The Methven special rate totals £1092 16s 7d,'While the Ashburton River control rate is £549 12s sd. These two rates are in addition to the general rate.
