RUSSIANS' AND JAPANESE. (Rec. 1.30.) SHANGHAI, Aug. 4. It is persistently reported that Japanese and Russian forces were engaged in large-scale hostilities at the Armur river at the week-end. The Japanese are reported to have suffered 1500 casualties. Part of the Amur river runs along the border between Manchukuo and the Amur province of Russia. JAPANESE SPOKESMAN’S DENIAL.
