LABOUR AND RUSSIA.

CO-OPERATION WELCOMED. Jb.:. -\ . NO PART WITH COMMUNISM. (Roc. 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, July 31In a joint statement the Britisri Trade Union Congress and Laoour Party place on record warm appreciation of the great efforts of the Soviet Union in the common struggle against Hitlerism and welcome the fullness or co-operation which has developed between Croat Britain and the Soviet. They affirm the conviction that the growth of this co-operation will result in the overthrow of Hitlerism and the achievement of a common understanding Between their peoples, which is a necessary condition to enduring peace. The statement then deals with the suggestion which has been made that common action be taken by the Trade Union Congress, Labour Party and Communist Party of Britain. Saying that the suggestion had been given careful consideration, the statement reviews the actions of the Communist Party in Britain since the outbreak of the war and comes to the conclusion that by reason of the unstable irresponsible character of tho party policy, which has never been determined by democratic means, there is nothing in the situation which justifies the collaboration asked for. —British Official Wireless.
