FOR GAME SHOOTING SEASON. THE ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the Council of the Ashburton Acclimatisation Society was held this week when the chairman (Mr J. Donn) presided. The secretary, reported that the sale of game licences for the season amounted to £77 10s (native £6l 10s) imported £l6) as against a total of £56 last year. It was reported that a motor-car had been purchased for the use of the ranger (Mr M. M. Orton). It was decided that a drive should be held for the destruction of eels in the Ashburton river.
