Mr W. E. Hale was to-day re -elected chairman of the Now Zealand Dairy Board for the fourth term, says a Press Association message. A motion of sympathy with Mrs J. S. Murray in the death of her father was carried at a meeting of the Ashburton Presbytery yesterday. Mr Don F. Dillon, son of Mr and Mrs H. C. J. Dillon, Lagmhor, has received an appointment in, the Fleet Air Arm and will leave for England shortly to start his training. The. Rev. J. S. Murray and R. W. Brown, new ministers of the Presbyterian Church in the Ashburton County, were welcomed at a meeting of the Ashburton Presbytery yesterday. The Ashburton Presbytery stood in silence yesterday out of respect ot Mr V. f;. Chapman, late- general treasurer of ihe Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. Mr Richard Price, formerly, of the Nelson and Christchurch branches of the Public Trust, arrived in Ashburton yesterday to relieve Mr I. 'Pearceat the local office. Mr Pearce left yesterday to commence Territorial training at Burnham. Misses P. Lavcrty, L. T. Mcßride, M. F. Ackerloy and M. Dawson, of the staff of the Ashburton Public Hospital, have, passed the State final examination for pupil nurses, and Misses M. T. McDonnell and J. M. Sanson have completed their passes.
