SMALL AVERAGE QUALITY ENTRY

The Ashburton stock market to-day attracted only a small entry of average quality fat The marked, however, showed a firming trend cn lato rates, and it was reliably estimated that values had advanced by up to Is Gd per head. Whereas last week. best fat ewes made up to 14s 4d, 17s Id was the top price this morning, this being obtained by J. Oakley (Ruapuna) for ;hreo ewes.

Wiethers made from 20s ,‘kl to 90s 10d, the latter obtained by Johnson Brothers (Seafield). Fat lambs brought up to 28s <id for three sold on account of J. R. Lockhard (Mount Somers). The main sales were:

Fat Ewes—On account of J. Quantoek and sons (Annina), 125 at 10s to 13s 7d; Johnson Bros. (Seafield), 5 at 11s lOd, G at 13s Id, 5 at 12s 7d; Miller’s Estate (Lagmhor), 4 at 13s Id, 4 at 13s 7d; J. Oakley (Ruapuna), 3 at 17s Id, 4 at 13s 4d;.clients, 50 at 10s Gd, 8 at 12s Id, 17 at 10s lOd, 7 at 13s lOd, 6 at 13s 4d, 7 at 16s lOd, 7 at 9s 7d, 37 at Ss lOd. Fat Wethers—On account of Johnson Bros. (Seafield), 4 at 30s lOd, J. Oakley (Ruapuna), 1 at 25s Gd, 1 at 20s 3d. Fat Lambs—On account of J. R. Lockhead (Mount Somers), 3 at 28s 4d; 30 at 19s.

Cattle—On account of clients, springer at £6 15s; Shorthorn heifer in profit at £4 7s Gd.
