The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, the sitting member of Parliament for Knipara, has been chosen as the; National Party’s candidate for the electorate at the General Election scheduled for this year. Air Coates has held the Kaipara seat since 1911.

Mr Angus Alcßean, 8.A., son of the Rev. and Airs A. Alcßean’, of Ashburton, has accepted a position in the British Legation in Berne, Switzerland. He commenced duty there at the beginning of April. Air Alcßean was formerly on the staff cf the “Now Zealand Herald,” but for the last six years has been in charge: of the English section of the International College at St. Gall, Switzerland. The authorities <ff the college have told him that his position and his room at the “Institut” will bo held open .for. him, so that he may resume his work there at the -end of the war.
