RAID ON ISLAND.

GERMANS TAKEN PRISONER. ENTRANCE TO NARVIK FIORD. LONDON, March 5. The Admiralty announces that a German-occupied island in the Lofoten group, off the coast of Norway, was raided by units of the Royal Navy, and that prisoners were taken. The Admiralty says' that the raid was successful and that further details will bo announced as soon as they are known. Tho Lofoten islands are off the entrance to the fiord leading to Narvik. ' : The Official German News Agency says that after a short bombardment, which destroyed several fishing boats, light British naval forces raided an unfortified island off the northern Norwegian coast and took prisoner some Germans and some Norwegian fishermen. Officials in Berlin said: “The raid was carried out without resistance in foggy weather on a small unnamed island near tho Lotofcn group. The prisoners do not include any members of the armed forces. There was no German counter-action from tho mainland. We regard tho matter as a mere trifle.”
