SOME FATALITIES AT SWANSEA. : i . i MANY PEOPLE NOW HOMELESS. INCENDIARIES CAUSE FIRES. (United Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, February 21. Swansea suffered its second successive attack by the Luftwaffe last night, and business .premises were severely damaged during a long raid. Several members of the Civil Defence Corps were killed. Many people are homeless, and rest centres have been established in various parts of the town. . ' ( Two high-explosive bombs fell in a roadway, digging large craters and tear! ing down the fronts of buildings for some distance. ■ * ' Incendiary bombs set fire to a whole row of workers’ dwellings, but firefighters prevented the flames from spreading. _ A few raiders, flying high, attempted to reach London during daylight, but were driven off by anti-aircraft fire. An official communique states: '‘There,has been only slight enemy activity over easterns. England and the east of Scotland to-day. Few bombs were dropped, but these did little damage and 'caused no casualties. —British 1 Official Wireless. , The main German air attack last night was on a. town in South Wales, where incendiaries. were dropped, followed by heavy high-explosive bombs. Considerable damage w r as done to commercial buildings and houses. Only three instances pf.the dropping of bombs by German aircraft in Great Britain yesterday were reported, and rieither casualties nor damage occurred. In East Anglia, a. Dornier dived out of the clouds and dropped tw„o bembs in a field and machine-gunned workers, .but no one was hurt. Another Dornier' was chased away by fighters after dropping bombs nejar l a small town. Anti-aircraft gun sopened fire on a third Dornier which appeared near a small tow r n, and it is believed that the raider was hit. The enemy piano was not expected to be able to reach its bfyse.
