SUBJECT OF EDUCATION.

More than 200 nuns ' and teaching brothers, representing 91 Catholic schools in the Wellington archdiocese, are taking part in a four-day conference which opened to-day. The conference was organised by Dr. N. H. Gascoigne (director of education in the diocese) and it is hoped to make it an annual 'event. Dr. Gascoigne voiced the thanks of the Catholic education authorities to the Education Department for its helpful co-operation. Archbishop O’Shea, opening the conference, said it was an important step' in the right direction, and. one whoso effect would be felt not only in the schools of the archdiocese, but throughout the Dominion.
