ARMS FROM AMERICA.
BIG EXPORT TO EAST INDIES. (Received This Day, 1.50 p.m.) WASHINGTON, November 29. The State Department disclosed that it issued export licences during October for the shipment to the Dutch East Indies of 11,160,000 dollars’ worth of arms and-military material, of which 5,649,000 dollars’ worth was for tanks and armoured cars. This is a surprising total, which, made the East Indies among t he largest purchasers of United States arms outside Europe, and brought the Indies’ total purchases for 10 months to 27,044,000 dollars, of which 4,691,000 were for military aircraft.
Australia during October received export licences for 1.314,000 dollars’ worth of aircraft engines and parts, making the total for the 10 months 5,238,000 dollars.
