TEMPERANCE UNION.

TINWALD CHRISTIAN WOMEN. The monthly meeting of the Tinwald Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held in the Methodist Schoolroom yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance. Two new members by transfer were welcomed. Devotions were taken by Mjrs Hight. A temperance fact was given and the Pledge repeated. . A review of the year’s activities Avas given in reports of each department of work. This was considered very satisfactory. It was decided to send Christmas cards to cradle roll children instead of holding the usual picnic. A letter of cheer and encouragement from the Dominion president was read. This election of officers ~ resulted :-y President, Mrs Hopwood; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Mcllro.y, Jennings and Eight; secretary and treasurer, Mrs Bayliss ; White Ribbon agent, Mrs Hight; Cradle Roll superintendent, Mrs Harkness; Maori superintendent, Mrs Oakley ; sailors’ superintendent, Mrs Bayliss. A vote of thanks was accorded the officers for their Avork during the. year. It was decided that the February meeting be observed as Francis Willard Day, each member giving an incident or reading in connection with her life. The season’s greetings were' exchanged 1 and the meeting closed Avith the, Temperance Doxology and prayer. Afternoon tea was then served.
