PERSONAL.
The Rev. L. B. Neale (president of tire New Zealand Methodist Church) will arrive in Ashburton next Monday to spend a week with ' the Willowby and Ashburton churches in connection with the Centennial Thanksgiving Appeal.
Mr \V. R. Hibburt (Dominion Young People’s Leader of the Church of Christ) visited Ashburton during the wieek-end. A tea. was held at the Ashburton Church of Christ last evening, attended byi representatives of the Baptist Church and Salvation Army.
Mr K. Hepburn, of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, who is at present home on leave, was entertained by members of the Ashburton Volunteer Fire Brigade at a social on Saturday evening. Mr Hepburn was a member of the brigade. Tbs Superintendent (Mr H. Hefford) presented the guest with a hold-all.
Mr A. G. Homer, of Dunedin, a member of the New Zealand 1 Brass Bands’ Association Executive, stayed with Mr E. R. Hopwood, Carter’s Terrace, Tinwald, over the week-end. For some years Mr Homer was a member and secretary of the St. Hilda Band. He has held* the Eh bass championship of the Dominion and has also competed at the Ballarat contests, Australia.
