, Mrs H. Walker, of Christchurch, has been appointed to' a position on the nursing staff of the Ashburton Public Hospital. She will take up duty next week.
Mr H. J. Orothers represented the Ashburton County Council at a _ conference of the Canterbury Provincial Patriotic Council ini Christchurch yesterday. Mr G. Kelly (County Clerk) was also present.
