THE LORD’S PRAYER.

THE OTAGO EDUCATION BOARD RECOMMENDATION TO TEACHERS (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, This Day. The -Education Board this morning opened its- proceedings with the Lords Prayer. The chairman (Mr James Wallace) said that Education Boards and school commitees were much closer in touch with the public opinion in this matter than the Education Department and Government. It was ridiculous that the Education Act should continue to say- that instruction must be of a secular character when the public wanted it otherwise.

The Board hoped that head teachers where the school did not open with devotional exercises, would adopt the Board’s recommendation, not instruction, that tile school day be commenced with the Lords Prayer. Members agreed with the chairman.
