WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
MEETING AT MOUNT SOMERS. The vice-president (Mrs A. R. Beckley) presided over the monthly meeting of the Mount Somers Women’s Institute,- which was opened with a prayer for peace. One new member was enrolled.
Arrangements were made to despatch 11 Christmas parcels to soldiers overseas. Mrs L. Tinker read an interesting pioneer story, and a humorous sketch was road by Mjrs L. Goodrich and Miss J. Stevenson.
It was reported that a nut-howl donated by Mrs H. Alexander had realised £5 15s 6d. Results of competitions were : —Print frock, Mrs A. JE Beckley 1, Mrs C. Alexander 2. Eight uncommon buttons: Mrs A. R. Beckley 1,. Mrs L. Tinker and Miss M. Comy.ns (equal) 2. Spring flowers: Mrs L. H. Ruddock 1, Mrs L. Tinker and Mrs A. R. Beckley (equal) 2. Shortbread: Mrs L. H. Ruddock 1, Mrs L. Tinker and Miss M. Comyns (equal) 2.
