ACCUSED BEFORE COURT.
THE OAMARU INCIDENT

OAMARU, October 16.
On remand from Monday morning William Meehan appeared before 'Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon on a charge that on October 13, 1940, at Oamaru he attempted to murder Harry Frederick McAuley. The accused was represented by Mr J. E. Farrell.
For the police Senior-Sergeant T. I. McGregor asked for a further remand for a fortnight. It would he some time, he said, before McAuley would he able to appear. The police that day had had information that there was ail improvement in the condition of tlio injured man. Mr Farrell consenting, the accused was remanded to appear on October 29.
