WORK AMONG MAORIS.
“CAUSE FOR SERIOUS CONCERN’-’ / (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, October 15. The position of tho work of the Church among the Maori people of the, diocese gave cause for serious concern, said Bishop Si in kin, addressing the Anglican Synod to-day. “The prevalence of drunkenness, lack of control in moral conduct, and indifference to worship are the three evils which demand the serious attention of the Synod,” tho Bishop continued. “The Church cannot stand aside mere looking on and doing nothing to stem th,e devastation of the spiritual lives of the Maori people. We must seek to find out where our weakness lies and apply a remedly.” In the fullest co-operation with the Bishop of Aotearoa, he hoped to exercise toward the Maori people the ministry of his office and to bring more closely together in worship and the service of God tho people of two races.
