THE ITALIANS IN AFRICA.
LOSSES OF AIRCRAFT. LONDON, October 13. An official communique issued in Cairo to-day states: “Royal Air Force aircraft raided military objectives at Bardin, yesterday. At least half a dozen) hits were- registered, military .barracks being successfully attacked. “Enemy aircraft, concentrated at El Aden, were bombed and considerable damage- was caused. At Derna, as a result of the raid, a big fire was started on the waterfront, a large building being hit hv heavy bombs. “In raids on Tobruk very large fires were started and explosions occurred. Shipping im the harbour was attacked and direct hits wore registered on the naval barracks. “In Eritrea, Asmara, was again bombed, two Irangars being hit as well as the runway of the aerodrome. “Ini two raids on Gura, several fires were started, accompanied by loud explosions. “The South African Air Foroo- squadrons made further extensive- reconnaissance flights. “From all these operations our aircraft returned safely.” Since Italy’s entry into this war the Royal Air Force,-has destroyed on all Middle East fronts, 225 Italian aeroplanes, and seriously damaged 131.
