FALL INTO RIVER.

PAINTER RESCUED BY CYCLIST. (Per Press Association). HAMILTON, September 27. Only the prompt action of a passerby in jumping into the river fully clothed saved a Hamilton borough employee, Air L. Reid, aged 35, married, of Alaeroa, from being drowned this morning. Air Reid was engaged on painting a traffic bridge when lie overbalanced and fell from a height of 50 feet. He was unable to swim and was partly unconscious from the fall. Air Reid’s plight was noticed by Air J. 1). Perrer, who was cycling over the bridge; Racing down to the bank and plunging in, lie reached Air Reid 200 yards downstream. Both men were exhausted on reaching the bank after being assisted in by a life line. Air Reid suffered only from shock.
