GIFTS FOR PLANES.

THE EMPIRE TRIBUTE. ASHBURTON FUND £67. The air forces fighting around London and the English coast comprise men from all parts of the Empire. Yesterday some particulars were given of the exploits of members of the Royal Canadian Air Force. “Six times during the past fortnight,” it is stated, “Canadian pilots fighting with the Royal Air Force have helped to save London from attack.” Australians, New Zealanders and men from other parts of the Empire are also taking part in the defence of London. It is fitting that the .movement to provide machines should he as wide as the sources from which the men are drawn. It is truly an Empire movement supported by every colony and Dominion. The final day for New Zealand fluids for this purpose will be Monday next. The Ashburton list at the “Guardian” Office reached £67 11s 3d to-day with receipt of the following contributions :

A sum of £1 2s Gd.was added to the fund this afternoon. It came from the “Wool sorters and Barney, Woollen Mills.”
