FIGHT OVER CHANNEL.
ONE RAIDER DESTROYED. SOME BOMBS DROPPED. (United Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, July 31. Forty. British fighters engaged Germans over, the Channel yesterday afternoon. A patrol of Hurricanes first intercepted Messerschmitts and bombers, after Which stronger British forces arrived. One German ’plane is reported to 'have been destroyed. The battle : moved ' eastward as the raiders fled. However, several Germans got through and dropped bombs inland.
