LATE COMMERCIAL

TINWALD STOCK MARKET.

FAT WETHERS BRING 47/10. VALUES REMAIN VERY FIRM. The top price at the Tinwald stock sale to-dav was 47s lOd eacli for live fat wethers offered on account of P. G. Rickard (Riverside). This price is the highest, by about 10s, realised at either the Ashburton or Tinwald sales this year. The market on the whole, was extremely firm, values being slightly improved on last week. Fat ewes brought from 11s 4d to .33s lOd, and fat wethers from 31s Id to 47s lOd. A price of £2 was exceeded in more than one case. The entry of fat lines was limited, many of the pens being only half-full. The quality of the sheep was good. There was keen competition among butchers and dealers, and to this can largely be attributed the high prices. The main sales up to noon were:

Fat Ewes—On account of W. Giddings (Ealing), 46 at 28s lOd to 33s 10s; G. H. R. Lill (Willow by), 2 at 28s 9d; T. M. Hampton (Tinwald), 3 at 21s lOd, 4 at 24s Id, 3 at 23s lOd; clients, 4 at 23s 10d, 8 at 28s Id, 4 at 11s 4d, 4 at 12s 4d. Fat Wethers—On account of Miller’s Estate (Lagmhor), 3 at 38s 7d, 3 at 43s lOd; W. H. Sims (Lowcliffe), 2 at 35s lOd, 3 at 36s 4d; P. G.
