RUGBY FOOTBALL.

THE BURNHAM CAMP MATCH. DECISIONS OF ASHBURTON UNION Further arrangements for a match between a Burnham military camp team and the Ashburton County representatives were made at a meeting oi the management committee of the Ashburton Rugby Union last evening. A proposal to ask local people to entertain the visitors at luncheon was considered, but no final decision was reached. The Woollen Mills football club wrote suggesting that it should play a- match with the Territorials as a curtainraiser to a representative match. It was decided that if the Joncs-Davey Cup match was not played on Saturday, August 10, the Territorial game should be played. The Old Boys Club was granted permission to withdraw its junior team from the competitions. The South Canterbury Union wrote confirming Saturday, August 24, as the date for a representative match at Ashburton, and stating that it was considering the possibility of a return fixture. DRAW FOR SATURDAY. The following draw for matches on Saturday has been approved by the management committee of the Ashburton Rugby Union: Seniors —Ashburton v. North Otago, at Domain, No. 1, .‘1 p.m., Mr C. McKenzie ; Town v. Country, Domain No. 2,2 p.m., Mr K. Hood.

Juniors—Celtic v. Hinds, fit Hinds, Mr S. Pennall; Springburn and Methven byes.

Third grade—Hinds v. Methven, at Methven, Mr G. Dalton; Old Boys v. Timvald, Domain No. 1, 1.30, Mr J. Billings; Technical Old Boys v. Mayfield, at. Mayfield, Mr S. Alexander ; Eiffelton a bye.

Fourth grade—Technical v. Methven, Domain No. 3, 2.45, Mr K. Ivenney; High School A v. High School B, at School; Rakaia a bye'. Fifth grade—High School B v. Technical A; High School Av. Technical B.

THE NORTH OTAGO MATCH. LOCAL TEAM UNCHANGED. The third Rugby representative fixture of the season at Ashburton will be seen on Saturday when Ashburton plays North Otago. As shown by their wins over Canterbury and South Canterbury respectively on Saturday both teams are in promising form and the match is certain to attract a great deal of interest. The Ashburton representative side announced at the meeting of the Management Committee last evening is the same as that selected for the Canterbury match.

Canterbury Rugby Union decided last evening that because of the shortage of players it would be impossible to send a junior representative side to Ashburton on Saturday, August 24.
