Hiskens .Steeplechase, of £1050; about two miles and three, furlongs and a-half—Tornarsuk 9.13 (Meenan) 1, Lacus 9.0 (Johnson) 2, Manofayr 9.13 (Mc-Mahon) 3. There were 16 starters. Won by five lengths; a length between second and third. Time, 4.47|.
ALTERNATE KING’S BIRTHDAYS. ASHBURTON AND CANTERBURY PARK. An arrangement has been come to between the' Ashburton and Canterbury Park Trotting Clubs to hold their meetings on,the King’s Birthday holiday in alternate years, and at a meeting of the Ashburton Club approval of the arrangement was received from the New Zealand Trotting Conference. The club has received a cheque of £IOO from the Ashbu>rton County Racing Club towards the cost of improvements recently made to the racecourse. From the grounds committee has been received a recommendation that the race track near the winning post be widened.
The annual meeting of members will be held on August 26.
TROTTING CLUB SECRETARY.
PROVISION FOR SERVICE. At a meeting of the Ashburton Trotting Club a. sub-committee was appointed to confer with; the racing club for the appointment of an acting-secre-tary in the event, of the present secretary, Mr J. B. Nicoll, being on active service.
