SUCCESSFUL “WAHINES” NIGHT
ATTENDANCE OF 200 PEOPLE. About 200 people, including visiters from Christchurch and Timaru, attended the Wahines’ Night of the Ashburton Savage Club on Saturday evening. Among the visitors were Colonel A. E. Loach (secretary of Kindred Clubs of New Zealand), Great Chief -A. Dev, of Christchurch, and; Great Chief H. W. Brownie, of South Canterbury. Great Chief O. G. Vial was inducted into the chair by ex-Great Chief A. H. Tcdd.
The programme was:—S'ongs, Savages A. T. Zeigler and L. Andrews (Timayu); selections, orchestra under musical director E. R. Hopwood; humorous item, Warrior J. D. Baxter; humorous monologue, Great Chief Dey; pelmanism, Savage H. McDonald; trombone solo, Savage W. Campbell; card tricks, 'Savage G. Winter bottom; sketches, ex-Greta,t Chief J. H. Browne, A. C. Wilson, A. H. Todd, Warrior Baxter, Brave A. A. Todd and Savage It’. Kemp; quartette, Savages W. Corbett, J. Mos.Sj Mr C. Hopwood and director E. R. Hopwood.
