BOXING.

HANHAM WINS LIGHT-HEAVY TITLfT - WELLINGTON, June 27. : In a clever display of boxing as distinguished from fighting, Cliff Hanham (Waimate) won the professional light heavy-weight boxing championship to-night by outpointing George Allen (Hastings). The men were well matched as to height, weight and reach, both standing over six feet in height. Hanham scaled 12st to his opponent’s list Hanham owed his victory to the use of a good left hand which he not only used straight to good effect hut hooked at pace. He did most of the leading, but Allen caused many blows to miss by clever ducking and head weaving. He also took many blows moving back.
