YEAR’S WORK REVIEWED
ELECTION OFX)FFTCERS. A full and interesting year’s work was reviewed in the report presented at the annual meeting of the Ashburton Musical Club, on Sat A relay evening. The report stated that six programmes had been held, the season opening with a. recital by (Paul Schramm and concluding with an illustrated lecture by Dr. V. E. Galway, Professor of Music, at the University of Otago. Regret was expressed at the death of Miss .T. Haslam. who had, at onei time, been secretary. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £53 4s lid. Officers were elected as follow: — President, Mr E. Buchanan - vice-pre-sidents, Mesdames M. F. Ruddock, A. T.. Smith. and Miss M. Jennings; secretary, Miss Gwen Woods; treasurer, Miss' Audrey Ruddock- committee, Mrs W. Thomas. Miss L. W'att, Miss L. Lewis, Miss M. Brown, Miss B. Brow'n, and Dr. N. E. H. Fulton. The following items were given:— Vocal solo, “The Cherry Tree Doth Bloom” (Alma Goatlev). Miss Betty Opie; piano solo, “Polichinelle” (Rachmaninoff).?! Miss Betty Brown; vocal solo, “There’s a. Bower of Roses” (Stanford), Miss Merle Brown; piano duet, Valse (Coleridge Taylor), Misses L. Lewis and M. Siftherland.
