VICAR INDUCTED

SERVICE AT ST. STEPHEN’S.

PARISHIONERS EXTEND A WELCOME. “ .! The neAA r vicar of Ashburton, the Rev. C. L. Mount-fort,, was inducted at a special service conducted in St. Stephen’s Church last evening by the Bishop of Christchurch (Bishop Vfest-V atson). The Bishop then addressed the congregation, stressing the fact that the success of Mr. Mountfort’s ministry in Ashburton would depend very. largely on the whole-hearted co-operation and support of all parishioners.

At a social function after the service, Mr L. A. Charles extended a avclcomo to 'Mr and Mrs Mountfort. The parishioners had been looking fonvard to their arrival, he said. Mr Mountfort would find much to do, but he could depend upon the assistance of the congregation.

Replying, Mr Mountfort thanked •parishioners for the Warm AA r elcome, and expressed his gratitude at finding everything in such good ordei- Avhen he arrived. It was his intention to carry on on the same lines as had been done before. Mr and Mrs Mountfort Avere then introduced to parishioners personally.
