HEROISM PRAISED.
MEN OF THE MERCHANT NAVY. LONDON, January 11. The “Yorkshire Post” to-day pays a tribute j|i a leading aytiede to the heroism of merchant seamen. “These men of the Merchant Fleet follow a tradition as courageous and : enduring as that of the fighting services,” it states. “It is a tradition upon which wo depend for our very lives in war timey and we know we shall never depend upon it in vain. “That tradition shines bravely in the calm discipline with which the crew of the' Dunbar Castle on Tuesday ensured that their passengers reached safety before they gave a thought of their own lives. It glowed in the ensuring response! made by fishermen to t-hp, call for volunteers for the hazardous task of fighting magnetic mines. It reveals itself movingly in rescue work carried out day by day by lifeboat men.” —British Official Wireless.
