THE WEATHER.
OVERCAST BUT AGAIN MILD. After bright conditions earl*- this mpi-ning, the sky became overcast, although the weather remained mild. A boisterous wind blew from the northwest during the night, and continued strongly for the greater part of today. Yesterday the - temperature rose to 78.7 degrees, the thermometer falling to no lower than -61.9 degrees last night. The barometer had dropped to 29.27 inches this morning. \ TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Pea- Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— A complex and very slowly moving disturbance extends from the west on to the Dominion. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oam am is as follows: — Moderate to strong northerly winds, changing to south-westerly to-morrow. Furtlier rain in the ranges. Fair to fine {ft first in places but becoming showery with a southwesterly change. Temperatures cooler to-morrow. Seas slight to moderate.
