Mr E. D. B. Amos, of the. telegraph office at- Ashburton, will leave next week to take up an appointment- with the .'Royal New Zealand Air Force.

A presentation of a travelling case on. behalf of the staff of Messrs Todd’s Drapery, Ltd., was made to Miss Norma Valentine, who. has been on the staff for four years and who will leave this evening to take up a position with a firm in Wellington.

Mr Lr. J. Brown, of the staff of Messrs Curran Brothers,'left Ashburton yesterday for Addington, to undertake training with the engineering section of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

Mr L. J. Ayres, who has been on the staff of the Ashburton Post Office for .some time, latterly on the main counter, lias been transferred to Wellington, and will leave next week.

Mr F. D’avid, teller at the Ashburton Post Office, who has been on the staff for the last 15 years, has been advised of his promotion to be. Postmaster at Waiau, 90 miles north of Christchurch. The date of his departure has not yet been announced.

Mr Bruce Craighead left yesterday to take up a> position with the engineering section of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Prior to his departure he was met by members of the staff of the Ashburton Electric Power Board and a presentation was made to him.

Messrs A. ,D. Smitheram and D. R. Hodgson, of Ashburton, have passed in the written and practical sections, respectively, for the electrical wiremen’s examinations held in > September. Messrs E. L. Kerr and A. R. Thomas, of the Power Board staff have passed in the practical part of the electrical servicemen’s examinations . and Mr Kerr has also passed in the written part of this examination.
