SUPPLIES OF MEAT IN SYDNEY. ABATTOIR BUTCHERS STRIKE. (United Press Association—Copyright.. (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Householders in the Metropolitan area are facing a serious meat shortage as a result of a strike at Homebush Abattoir, where all work ceased to-day. The dispute began last week with mutton slaughtermen who are demanding that a casual employee be. reinstated to his former position. The Industrial Commission intervened yesterday and formally deregistered Meat Employees’ Union, whose members today called a strike in all departments of the abattoir. The matter is being considered by the Cabinet.
