In a preface to a book containing General Franco’s speeches, the Italian Foreign Minister (Count Oiano) reaffirms the solidarity between Italy and Spain and Italy’s pride at having fought with! the Spanish Nationalists against “the Bolshevist virus.” Count Ciano emphasised that Italy also fought to enable Spain to regain her strength and the balancing function which she. should exercise in Elurope’s life. He adds: “Italy and Spain will never be separated, because common ideals and interests live deep in the hearts of the two peoples.”
