HANHAM KNOCKS OUT SLOANE. TIMARU, November 2. In <fi professional middle-weight boxing contest at Timaru to-night, Cliff Hanhain (list. 61b), Waimate, beat Le,s Sloan (list), Australia, by a knockout in the fourth of a scheduled 12round contest. According to the referee’s count, Sloan was ahead on points until the knock-out came. 'Sloan was in the act of leading a left when Hanhain shot a perfect .right which had Sloan out before he reached the canvas. NEGRO BANTAM-WEIGHT CHAMPION. WASHINGTON, November 1. The National Boxing Association has recognised George Pace, aged 23, of Cleveland, as the world’s 'negro ban-tam-weight champion on condition that he fights any contenders selected by the association or the British Board of Control.
