GERMANY’S NOTE
REJECTION OF THE DEMANDS. ALLEGATIONS AGAINST BRITAIN. ENCOURAGEMENT OF THE POLES. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, September 3. Germany’s Note says: Firstly, the German people are not in a position to accept or fulfil any British ultimatum. Secondly, it alleged that the British Government nullified all German attempts at a peaceful settlement. Thirdly, it contends that the British Government approved and encouraged the Polish steps against Danzig and the German minority, saying that Britain rejected Signor Mussolini’s proposal for a settlement, although Germany declared her willingness to accept the suggestion. Fourthly, Germany could not tolerate conditions on her eastern border similar to thosp in Palestine. Fifthly, Germany therefore rejects the ultimatum to withdraw German troops.
