The story revolves- about “Cassidy’s” campaign to avenge the. murder of one of his closest friends, a wealthy rancher, and rout a .gang of bandits who have been plaguing tlie untamed Alexican cattle country. AVeaving in aiid out of the drama is a romance between Hayden, who plays the spirited “Lucky,” and Jane Clayton, the beautiful new leading lady of the “Cassidy” films. In tlie associate feature a thrillpacked story is told in “Illegal, Traffic.” AA 7 ithi J. Carrol Naish playing another of .bis famous killer roles, l‘lllegal Traffic” traces the.' efforts of a young G-man to catch- wily racketeers red-handed by becoming a member of the gang. Robert Preston, the handsome new start, plays the G-man who wins fame and the heart of Alary Carlisle at the same time.
SOCIAL AT LOWCLIFFE. A most enjoyable social evening, under the auspices of the Lowcliffe Bible,class, was held in #he school on Saturday evening. Visitors were present from the Hinds, Ealing, Alaronan and Willowby? classes. Recitations were given by Airs D. AfeRac, vocal quartettes by Misses F. Price and E. Ford, and Messrs Prieo and. Pearce, and a song by Aliss H. Carroll. Games and competitions were much enjoyed. 1 Supper was then handed round.
ANGLICAN CHOIR CONCERT. - \ To augment the music fund of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church choir at Ashburton , the Ashburton Imperial Harmonica Band conducted a. concert in the parish hall on Alonday evening. There was, a good attendance and a satisfactory sum was raised. Items were contributed by the Harmonica Band,, Afisses B. Opie, L. Acton, Messrs F. Alaginness, O. Hopwood, and ’Afaster John Pooley (songs), Aliss AI. AYillers’ (character sketch), Alisses AT. Wilson and Eaden (tap dances), Mr H. Thompson (comic item), Air C, Hansen’s accordion band, Airs Mitchell’s orchestra.-' --Mrs- H-. J . Chapman and Miss Muriel I). Clarkson were pianists, and Air A. C. Wilson led community- singing. -
