Steam Power In Agriculture.—The application of steam power jjn agricultural work did not make much progress for a considerable period, hut during the last few years there has been a decided progressive movement. Recent improvements -in the traction - enginehave made it more suitable for* "farm work, and one may look for further , improvements. The - old system of steam ploughing by means of two engines, between which the ploughs are" drawn-backwards and tor wards,' lias been so improved that tnore is a good prospect of. its successfully; rivalling horse power, even in ordinary plough?..; ing, and we have seen in this' colony i the introduction of the. method of drawing the plough behind a travelling engine. In California the large cony?* plete harvesters are now drawn, by traction engines, and in that State an inventor has devised ;a" traction engine - which can he made by adding two, large wide wheels and the necessary propelling gear •to an ordinary’ portable engine. The idea has been suggested’ by’ the large number of portable ell-' 1 * gines thrown out of work by the use of • the traction engines. Li ."

If Ulster ever went with the Irish Government, it would be of her own free will, and not at: the bayonet point. Ulster wanted no makeshift: Government, no sjnonimun limit, . and no county limit. The South. Belfast Regiment of. Ulster Volunteers, marched in the streets of Belfast carrying) rifles and bayonets.
