CHEMICAL WORKERS’ STRIKE
MEN OFFER, NEGOTIATION

If tlij> employers refuse to negotiate 400 strikers at three chemical works are prepared to strike indefinitely, according to a statement . made to-day by Olr W. Miller (secretary of the dtahuhu Chemical . Manure Workers’ Union), after a meeting of his executive’. The statement added that the oflcr made bv the workers on June 27 to negotiate for a settlement still stands, but so far no suggestion has been made by the other side that they are prepared to accept the offer. The workers .stale ' that they are anxious to settle the dispute, as they have no wish to inconvenience farmers or other users of fertilisers. They invite any impartial investigation of the conditions under which they work, feeling that the complaint that they are intolerable can he substantiated. The employers met informally yesterday, but had no statement to make.
