DOMINION PRODUCE HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, dated March 10: Tallow—Market is dull. Present spot quotations are:—Mutton: ’Fine, 24s 6d to 255; good, 21s to 2ls 6d; fair, lGs 6d to 17s. Beef: Fine, 20s 6d to 21s; good, 18s; fair, 16s to 16s Gel. Mixed: Good, 18s; fair, 16s to 16s 6d; gut, 13s 6d to 15s. 6d. Mutton: Dark to dull, 14s 6d to 16s 6d. Beef: Dark to dull, 13s 6d to 15s 6d. Hemp—Manila : Market active early this week, quieter at the close. Value “K” grade March-May shipment, £l7 ss. Sisal: Market quiet, tendency easier. Value March-May shipment £l6 10s. The potato market has firmed considerably since last week, due partly to the announcement of the lifting of the Australian embargo and to the fact that the North Island main crop is nothing like as good as expectations. There is a- good demand from the North Island for local stocks, and the price has hardened to £7 10s o*i trucks for prompt delivery, with, forward quotations at £7. A- fair proportion of the local crop hqs been sold, but farmers are now holctm fe supplies in anticipation of better prices. Fair business is being done in onions, the price now being quoted at £l2 on trucks.

.The rain which fell last week delayed threshing for a few days, but the inconvenience is more than outweighed by the good done by Me Tali. The bulk of the crop is now in, but some lines are still coming forward, and are readily being taken by the mills. Quality continues to be excellent. Prices are subject to the final paj'ment of 3d a bushel, payable at the end of the yea>r next March. Good quality Dun oats are in demand at 3s 6d to 3s 9d, and good Algerians are also wanted. Ryegrass showing a. good germination has hardened further to 4s 6d to 5s for Perennial, with Italian and Western Wolths at 2s 6d to 3s. Cocksfoot is quiet, and little other business is doing. * Following are quotations to farmers on trucks, country stations, sacks extra: — Milling Wheat —F.a.q. prices: Tuscan, 5s 6d; Huntejrs, 5s 8d; Pearl. 5s lOd.
