FOUR CARS COLLIDE.
ACCIDENT ON RAKAIA BRIDGE. J . r EXPRESS TRAIN HELD UP. When four cars were involved yn a collision on the Rakaia bridge on Saturday morning, delay was occasioned in clearing the damaged vehicles and the south-bound express train stood at the. end of the bridge whistling shrilly for right-of-way, though the people in the cai’3 AA'ere doing theii utmost to get off the bridge. Four cars were proceeding close one another in a northerly* direction and the greater part of the bridge had been negotiated Avhen the driver of the leading car (a AA’omnn residing in Ashburton) suddenly stopped. The second car crashed into the, first, the third into the second and the last one hit the rear of the third ca,t\ The first and last cars were only slightly damaged, but the tAvo in the middle, haying taken impacts fore and aft, were extensively knocked about.
