HARVEST FESTIVALS.
SERVICES IN ASHBURTON. ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The harvest thanksgiving services at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church yesterday were, largely attended. The church was decorated with flowers, fruit, vegetables, and produce. Special hymns were sung. The anthem, “Let us sing unto the Lord’’ was given by the choir. The subjects of the ‘addresses by the Rev. 11. S. Watson were “Strength and Beauty” and “The Law of Causation.” The talk to the children was entitled “Giving Thanks.” The goods displayed in the church will be sent to the Presbyterian orphanages at Christchurch. CHURCH OF CHRIST. Effective decorations with seasonal fruit and vegetables and sheaves of oats were carried out for the harvest thanksgiving service at the Church of Christ. Pastor M. J. Savage preached at both services. Miss J. Hoekings sang a solo in the evening service. The produce, which was given by members of the church, will be sold this evening, the proceeds being used for the reduction of the debt on the Sunday School Hall.
