TIMARU TROTTING CLUB. DEMONSTRATION AFTER RACE. JUDGE ALTERS HIS PLACINGS. TIMARU, This Day. Although the clay was dull, the Timnni Trotting Club enjoyed fine weather for its meeting on Saturday, and the track was in excellent order after the recent rain. There was a demonstration against the judge’s placings in the Wai-iti Handicap. From every angle it appeared as if Gay Lady,-the favourite, had got up to gain a decisive victory; but the judge placed Evora, Loyal Avis, and Gay Lady in that order. A prolonged hostile demonstration 'followed. The crowds lined the fences, jeering andi counting the judge out, and for a while it appeared as if they would invade the birdcage. The demonstration had reached an ugly stage when the judge altered his placings. Under the rules of trotting he js allowed fivo minutes in which to do this, and although lie may have exceeded his time slightly, there is not the slightest doubt that had the original placings been allowed to stand the supporters of the favourite would have suffered an injustice.
