Compulsory national service was strongly urged ,by.'the Labptut Premier of Taspiania (Mi\- Pgilvie) in broadcast address.-! He;.said .that l his ’Government believed, in compulsory military and physical training and in the mobisation of wealth and industry. “Australia is living in a fool’s paradise,” said Mr Ogilvie. “We are inadequately prepared to meet an attack on Australia, although in war we might find an enemy a few hours away. ,lt is impossible to minimise the gravity of the situation. Wo know that war may come and in such a war there would be no warning.”
