WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
THE FAIRTON BRANCH MEETING. Tlie monthly meeting of the Fairton Women’s Institute was held in the Hall yesterday. There was a good attendance, presided over by Mis H. Thompson. Mrs H. Chappell was at the piano. It was decided to hold a picnic m January in place of the usual meeting. Arrangements lor the Group meeting next Thursday were finalised. The demonstration was in the hands of Mrs Collins, of Allonton, in the making of hair-pin work. Mrs Collins was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her interesting demonstration. The competitions, judged by Mesdames Collins and Bennison, resulted as follows:—Specimen bloom, Mrs Oram and Miss Dunpliy (equal) 1, Miss Oram 2, Mrs Willis 3; jar of flowers (effect), Miss Dunphy 1, Mrs Cord 2, Mrs Willis 3; pea pods, Mrs Ford 1, Mrs Willis 2, Mrs Chappell 3; coffee cake, iced, Mrs Chapped 1, Mrs Evans and Mrs Willis (equal) 5, Mrs McCall 3 ; Christmas novelty not costing more than Is Od, Mrs Ford 1, Mrs McCall 2, Miss Dunphy 3. The hostesses were Mesdames Hooper. Ward, and Slade.
