MISSIONARY UNION.
PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN MEET. The final meeting for the year of the St. Andrew’s branch of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union was held in St. Andrew’s Hall yesterday afOornoon, the president ('Mrs R. S. Watson) presiding over a large gathering. A cordial welcome was extended to the visitors present, and to Mrs A. Drayton, who recently returned from a holiday visit to Australia. Greetings from th/e Hbkitika branch were conveyed by Mrs G. Gale.
Miss E. Cameron, delegate to the recent annual conference in Dunedin, presented a detailed and interesting report of the various activities in the interests of missionary work. Among the missionary plays presented at the conference was n Maori play written by Mrs R. S. Watson. Visits had been paid by delegates to Columba College, where they were hospitably entertained by the stall' and pupils, and to the home of Lady Sidey, where 1000 guests were entertained at an enjoyable garden party. Mrs W. G. Gallagher thanked Miss Cameron for her interesting and faithful report. Other representatives ot St. Andrew’s branch who attended the conference were Miss Al. McLauchlan and Alls I). Shaw.
A collection of articles representing Maori arts and crafts was offered for sale by the Alaori goods secretary (Airs S'. W. Gower).
A splendid response was made to the appeal for gifts for the Alaori children’s Christmas tree.
At the close of the meeting after noon tea was handed round.
