SWIMMING.
THE METHVEN CLUB. REPORT TO ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Methven Amateur Swimming Club was held in the Anglical Hall on Wednesday evening, Mr A. R. G our ley presiding. The report stated that the past season had been a satisfactory one. The membership was 68, all financial. The annual carnival and dance in January had been most successful, and at the request of visiting swimmers a further carnival was held in March, and this also was satisfactory. The appointment of Mr Dorsa as caretaker had proved satisfactory and it is hoped that this arrangement would be continued during the coming season. The baths had been maintained in a good state of repair. One new shed was erected during the season, and the lighting system was considerably improved. Successful trips were made by Methven swimmers to Ashburton on three occasions. Members who gained most points in events during the season were
D. Harrison (101), S. Holmes (7), Miss Margaret Owen (6) and Miss Betty Stone (5).
The balance-sheet showed ,a credit balance of £3 2s Id, which is satisfactory considering that a number of improvements were paid for out of revenue. The receipts totalled £BB 7s Id and the expenditure £BS ss.
