HARMONICA BANDS.
COMBINATION AT ASHBURTON. The Ashburton Harmonica Band and Blomfield’s Imperial Harmonica' Band were amalgamated at a meeting of members of both bands, held on Tuesday evening, when Mr A. Thomson presided. It was decided that the new combination be named the Ashburton Imperial Harmonica Band, and that the Ashburton band’s uniform bo retained, with the addition of a red stripe on the arm.
The following officers were elected: President, Mr G. Adamson; senior conductor, Mr G. Bloomfield; deputy-con-ductor, Mr H. Healey; junior conductor, Mr L. Chapman; secretary, Mr W. McQuarters; treasurer, Mr Bongard; committee, Messrs Bloomfield, Healey, F. Ward, A. Ward, Good, A. Thomson, L. Chapman and C. Hansen; custodian, Mr A. Shierlaw.
It was said that under amalgamation the senior and junior bands would each have a membership of 40. A solo competition for junior members of the Ashburton Harmonica Band was held. Mr Bloomfield was the judge and made his awards as follow': R. Sparrow, 72 points, 1; N. Olds, 6G, 2; D. McDougall, 58, 3. Medals were given by Messrs P. Skinner (Christchurch), G. Bowman (Ashburton), and Mrs AY. Healey (Ashburton).
