THE WEATHER.
IDEAL CONDITIONS TO-DAY. After a blustery day yesterday, with showers of rain in the afternoon, the warm conditions this morning Were exceedingly welcome. The sun shone brightly for the greater part of to-day and with little wind, the weather could hardly be bettered. The maximum temperature yesterday was 65.6 degrees and the minimum last night 41.2 degrees. The barometer stood at 2D.6 degrees this morning. Six points of rain fell yesterday.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST.

The Government. Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — A shallow depression lies across the North Island, but is moving eastwards. An anti-cyclone extends from South-Eastern Australia on to New Zealand.
The forecast for the eh.st coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: —
Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fine, • cool to-night, but warmer to-morrow. Sea slight.
