ON LAST STAGE.
RAIN EXPERIENCED YESTERDAY DUE HOME AT SIX O’CLOCK. (From Our Own Reporter.) PEMBROKE, This Day. The Ashburton farmers’ party left Queenstown yesterday morning in heavy rain, which persisted throughout the journey to Pembroke. The trip over the difficult Crown Range was unpleasant because of mist obscuring the view for the greater part of the way. Blockage of the petrol pump of one ’bus left the party stranded on a mountainside for an hour, but there was no other trouble. The weather cleared in the late afternoon and the sun shone strongly. The party made a long trip round the northern coast of Lake Wanaka and in the evening viewed a stud farm ID miles behind Pembroke.
The district was bathed in sunlight this morning as the party left for Ashburton, expecting to cover the 250 miles by 6 o'clock.
